OUR STORY

From Surrey to the World Stage

Reinard Jiloca ("Rei") is the brainchild and Sole Director of Reisky Enterprises Inc.

Rei is a Human Resource practitioner by profession who has a depth of training experience that spanned for over twenty years before he shifted to the legal field.

But even prior to his HR and legal engagement, his strong background and passion for martial arts can be traced back to his Filipino roots where as a young student in 1985, he seriously trained in Karate.

While it was his dream to have competed in the Olympics in the 90's, it was only after three decades that karate was included as an official sport rather than an exhibition sport.

But Rei's passion for martial arts did not stop him to continuously train. He had the opportunity to travel to a lot of countries that inspired him to incorporate his further martial arts trainings in his professional and family life.

Now his dream has been refocused to helping other young athletes gain new knowledge and acquire new skills to become world-class athletes.

Hence, Reisky Martial Arts and Fitness came to fruition.

The Meaning Behind Our Smiling Tiger

We are represented by a Smiling Tiger in a karate dogi with a business suit on top.

Just like a tiger, we have the courage to take on challenges. We think and act accordingly. We never give up until we achieve our objectives. We aim of developing martial artists to their full potentials with new knowledge and skills. We confront all challenges with a smile. The gesture of thumbs-up symbolizes achievement.

The dogi or uniform represents martial arts. We are in the business of promoting and organizing martial arts and fitness learning events like in-person and online training, seminars, and workshops.

The business suit represents professionalism. We aim to deliver on our commitments. We deal with respect and professionalism towards our clients, guest instructors, contractors, and colleagues. We will adapt to new styles and technologies that will enhance learning.

We believe in the concept of "Never Stop Learning". Learning is a lifelong process no matter at what stage we are in our life. According to a retired mixed martial artist, Frank Shamrock, he once said, "The very essence of martial arts is the thirst for knowledge and the truth about ourselves."

It is our mission at Reisky Martial Arts and Fitness to provide worthwhile activities and trainings to athletes that will help develop their physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.

It is our commitment to motivate our participating athletes to nurture their love and thirst for continuous learning in order to become exceptionally talented and world-class athletes that would prepare them for local and international competitions as they proudly represent their respective dojos and countries.

Two Martial Arts Under One Roof

Most schools specialize in one martial art. We offer both Japanese Karate and Filipino Arnis, allowing students to cross-train and develop a more well-rounded skill set. Many students find that training in both arts enhances their understanding of each.

We intentionally keep class sizes manageable so every student receives personal attention and feedback. You’re not just a number here—your instructor knows your name, tracks your progress, and helps you overcome your specific challenges.

No Long-Term Contracts

We earn your membership every month through quality instruction and a positive training environment. We don’t lock students into long-term contracts because we believe you should train with us because you want to, not because you’re contractually obligated.

Officially Affiliated

The Mabuhay Arnis Club ("Mabuhay" means "welcome" or "long live" in Tagalog) operates within Reisky Martial Arts as our dedicated Filipino martial arts program. Founded to preserve and promote authentic Filipino Arnis in British Columbia, the club is officially affiliated with WEKAF, one of the largest and most respected international Arnis organizations.

Through this affiliation, our Arnis students have access to:

  • Standardized curriculum recognized internationally

  • Rank certification through WEKAF

  • Opportunities to compete in local, national, and international tournaments

  • Seminars with visiting masters from the Philippines

  • Connection to a global community of Arnis practitioners

Whether you're interested in the practical self-defense aspects, the cultural heritage, or the competitive sport side of Arnis, the Mabuhay Arnis Club offers a comprehensive training experience.
